Brianna Gleghorn

My name is Brianna Gleghorn. A quote I incorporate in my day to day life is “The two most important days in your life are: the day you were born and the day you find out why” said by Mark Twain. I joined The Sentinel this year because I love to write and it has been something I have been great at my entire life. I plan to go to school for Journalism when I graduate this year. I have been taking college classes at Youngstown State University since my junior year. By the time I graduate high school I will have at least 22 credit hours completed. I plan to have my freshman year of college completed before high school ends.

Megan Donegan

Hi there! I’m Megan Donegan, the layout design editor of The Springfield Sentinel. This is my third year being a part of the website and Sentinel team, and I love it. The whole idea behind the Sentinel is to bring news around the school and area to our students and keep everyone “in the loop”, which is something I believe is important. As much as I love journalism, after high school I plan to go to college for biochemistry or environmental science. I have to say my favorite quote to live by is, “I’m not a princess. I don’t need saving. I’m a queen. I got this handled.”

Kayla Gossard

I am a Senior here at Springfield Local. This is my first year in Sentinel and I joined because I really enjoy writing about the things that are going on around me. In my free time I enjoy hanging out with my friends and watching Grey’s Anatomy. I also enjoy going to Chick-Fil-A. When I graduate I plan to attend college in the Fall. “Life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced.” -Soren Kierkegaard

Scarlett Stevens

This is my first year in The Sentinel! I joined The Sentinel to learn more about journalism and see if I enjoy it. In my free time, I like shopping, going to concerts, hanging out with my friends, and drinking coffee. After high school, I plan to go to college, major in fashion merchandising, and hopefully live in New York City one day. “This life is yours. When are you going to realize that you can do whatever you want?” -Anonymous

Trina Belfast

My name is Trina Belfast. I’m 16 years old and I am a Junior here at Springfield Local High School. When I am not at school I participate in the NBHA, where I compete in barrel races and rodeos all over Ohio. I also am a 4-h member and have been for almost 10 years now! I currently plan on being either a teacher or something in the forensic fields after I leave high school. I enjoy being with friends and family, and I love animals!

Hunter Troggio

I joined sentinel because it seemed like fun and interesting. My favorite quote is from Vin Diesel, “I don’t have friends I have family. Some hobbies I enjoy are racing hunting and fishing. I play football and play varsity defense. I plan to go to Sam’s Racing in houston Texas for college.

Kayla Pastore

I’m Kayla M. Pastore. I am a senior at Springfield Local and I have been going to Springfield all my life. I participate in track and field in the springtime. I plan on attending college in the fall of 2016, and I am certain about studying in the business field throughout my college years. I decided to take the sentinel class because I like to be interactive with the school and to do research about things I’m interested in, and this class definitely lets me explore things I like.

Kahlea Barricella

“A hero is just someone who was brave a second longer than everyone else.” This is one of my favorite quotes it shows that the anyone can be a hero. They just have to stand strong when no one else will. I was in the Sentinel class last year as well as this year, and I just loved getting to write poems and about the students here at Springfield. I enjoy reading and writing.  These things are great because they have no limitations. I am in cross country and track but my favorite extracurricular is drama club. I plan on going into the military later on in life hopefully through the United States Naval Academy.

John Lyda

Hi my name is John Lyda. I am 17 years old, and I play football and run track. I took journalism because I needed another credit and it seemed like a cool class. I want to go to college and become a veterinarian and maybe play college football. My favorite quote that helps me whenever times are tough is “The bird is the word” – Peter Griffin.

Dalton Hostetter

I am 17 and I am a senior. I like to make music and hang out with my friends. I am in marching band, pep band, concert band and jazz band. I’m not sure what I want to do after high school yet. I took journalism because I liked Mrs. Mullane and the class seemed cool. This is my first year in Journalism. I’m not sure if I want to make a career out of journalism after high school or not. My favorite quote is “Life is great, without it you’d be dead.” – Harmony Korine.

Jules Julius

“Always have fun in life.” – Anonymous

Jules Julius is a senior at SLHS and one of the many writers for the Sentinel. Jules has been a member of the Sentinel staff since his junior year and has contributed numerous articles to the paper.

Jules is a diligent worker for the paper. However, when he isn’t creating his latest article, he can usually be found enjoying one of his hobbies. Two of his favorite hobbies are playing video games and watching television.

Jules plans on joining the National Honor Society before leaving SLHS. Following his graduation, he plans on going to college, but he is uncertain of what he plans to study as of yet.

Olivia Walker

Oliva Walker is a sophomore member of the Yearbook staff who gets dragged in to work for the Sentinel every so often. For both groups she serves as a Photographer, taking pictures to satisfy the needs of both teams.

Olivia babysits every day after school, not including days working on the Sentinel or Yearbook. When she has free time she enjoys producing videos for YouTube and doing the occasional bit of modelling.

She is unsure of what she does want to do following her graduation, but she is eager to graduate and begin forging her own path in life.
