Jordan Mccusker
My name is Jordan Mccusker. I’m a junior and this is my first year on the Sentinel staff.  I look forward to working with everyone and everything that I will learn from working on the staff.

My time at Springfield so far has been pretty nice. During my freshman year of high school I joined both the Drama Club and the Book Club. Drama has been wonderful for me. It’s given me time to do something I love, it's given me a family, and it’s helped me a lot with my social anxiety. I’ve been in five plays so far. Rumpelstiltskin, Little shop of Horrors, Winnie the Pooh, M*A*S*H, and Steel Magnolias. My favorite play we’ve done is probably Steel Magnolias because we were a small family. On the other hand, Book Club has been a nice way for me to be able to talk to people about the books I love as well. My favorite book that we’ve read in book club so far is I’ll Give you the Sun by Jandy Nelson. I enjoyed that it jumped between two perspectives and that everything fell into place at the end.

Outside of school, I do a lot of writing and reading. I hope to be an author, actress, and comedian one day; which is why I love drama so much and why I joined Sentinel.

My favorite part of being a part of Sentinel is definitely the writing. I love writing, it’s usually what I do in my spare time. I even write poems as birthday gifts for my friends.Writing is one of the main ways I’m able to express myself and my feelings. I know my writing can be a lot better and so I hope working on Sentinel will help improve it.

As a person, I’m honestly a ball of irony. Around new people I’m super quiet and shy but around people I know, I’m super loud and outgoing. I’m always trying to get to places as fast as I can, but I’m one of the last people completing a test. I enjoy my time alone but I probably love hanging out with people the best. People are so much fun to be around.
